We chose Edmunston as our target for the day. It was a neat Canadian City with lovely parks and a unique fort. We went to dinner at an Italian restaurant (Pizza Delight). I had a seafood (with Lobster) dish. They had a grill in the middle of the restaurant where you were invited to grill your own bread and smother it with any number of different spreads. Neat !!! We called it a night and stayed at a huge truck stop, staying clear of the largest trucks.
As we travel, we find ourselves so fortunate to be aided by folks who know the ropes. For example, one helpful person at one of the information stations suggestion that we head to a town (lEVIS) where we could take the ferry to Old Quebec City from Levis, Quebec. This saved us many miles of driving and many more headaches of trying to find parking in the very crowded tiny streets in Old Quebec. We took the luxury to drive along the coast of the rivers (at least three rivers) and enjoy the little towns.
We visited Old Quebec City in the late 80's and stayed at the restored Fort La Frontenac (a 5 star hotel). On this visit we ferried over across the St Lawrence and took the funicular up to the Fort and enjoyed the tiny European like streets. We clapped for talented street performance, the marveled at the views from the top of the hill and a late lunch in one of the bistros. A really delightful day.
